At over 14,000 feet (4,300 meters), Mount Shasta is a four-peaked stratovolcano at the top of California. Lenticular clouds form over the mountain throughout the year. It was a spring day when I saw this spectacular lenticular cloud capping the mountain. I knew I had to grab my camera. I wanted to capture the overall grandeur of the mountain but also peek beneath the cloud where the mountaintops were hiding. Changing minute by minute, I watched the cloud morph atop the mountain, stuck in the convergence zone. I set up my tripod in three different locations in the town of Weed, California.
