This picture captures the view of the Bridge of Sighs, a place steeped in legend. It is said to take its name from the despairing sighs of prisoners who, as they were led away to their dark future of imprisonment, gazed at the beauty of Venice through the shuttered stonework. The presence of a gondola on the canal towards the bridge adds to the completeness of the image. I employed various techniques for focus and exposure to create this masterpiece.
