Abdulrahman AlKahlout Photojournalist and Humanitarian Advocate Born on December 27, 1996 – Gaza, Palestine I am Abdulrahman AlKahlout, a Palestinian photojournalist from Gaza, a city shaped by decades of war and resilience. My journey began in 2009, capturing everyday life. Over time, photography became my mission to document humanitarian stories, especially during moments of conflict. For me, the camera is a voice for the voiceless and a tool to fight injustice. In 2014, the Gaza War marked a turning point in my career, shifting my focus to documenting civilian suffering. I have since covered key events, including border protests (2018-2019), the 2021 and 2023 Gaza wars, and the 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake. Despite sustaining six injuries while on duty, I remain committed to my mission of truth-telling, no matter the cost. My work extends beyond Gaza, where I have captured global stories, including the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Yet, my Palestinian passport often limits my movement, making my journey as a global photojournalist uniquely challenging. Photography, for me, transcends borders. It is a means to amplify marginalized voices and document the human cost of conflict. My work has received both local and international recognition, and I strive to continue sharing stories that highlight our shared humanity. “The lens can be mightier than bullets, truer than words, and more human than any drawn borders.” This belief drives my passion to use photography as a tool for change and connection.
